Genealogy

Why did it take me so long to discover how fascinating genealogical research is? It's a glorious combination of jigsaw puzzle and detective work.

Some of the surnames I'm working on: ALSTON, BERRY, CHURCH, COUNTS, COX, DANCY, DAY, DONOHO, DUDLEY, EICHELBERGER, HEMPHILL, HORNE, KINARD, MANNING, MASON, MAYNOR, MILLIGAN, OWEN(S), QUINTON, ROUNTREE, SETZLER, STANLEY, STONER, STUART (brick wall -- need help!), SUMMER, SWITTENBERG, WASHINGTON, WHEELER.

For the information in gedcom form, see the Rootsweb World Connect pages or Gencircles. The gedcoms include information on sources as well as some of the lateral branches that aren't included on the basic surname pages.

A note about sources: My sources vary in reliability. Some are primary sources (e.g., family bible, letters, wills); some are close to primary, although known to contain errors (e.g., census records); a few are unchecked information from other researchers. Although I do not include information that I've found in places like other people's web pages or collections of family trees, I do sometimes include information given to me by other researchers whose work I trust and information I have found in books even when I know that these books contain certain errors.

Please send any additions, corrections, or suggestions to me (natalie@maynor.net). Thanks!
